“I’m a pilgrim on the edge, on the edge of my perception. We are travelers at the edge, we are always at the edge of our perception.”
This is a quote hanging on my wall…I look at it everyday….any thoughts….

Is this from the Scott Mutter photo-art of the ocean and escalator?

Expanding what we can see by moving toward the edge … always traveling toward the edge of what we can see, or understand, in order to see a little farther all the time?
Great picture … I saw it at your cool apartment today

Mutter is one of my favorite photographers. He is an expert of photomontage. Check out more of his work at http://www.photographymuseum.com/mutter.
As for the quote, I was just talking with Josiah and Hannah last night about how glad I am that western culture is being forced (albeit slowly) out of its enlightenment arrogance to abandon our illusions of certainty. There’s a kind of humility that accompanies the realization that all I really know are my perceptions and that the boundary of those perceptions is never far away.
I think that makes us people willing to really hear, not just tolerate, other’s stories. It makes us better listeners and better lovers.

Ok…Dean, so I can’t get that link to work and it makes me sad! : ( So all we really know is what we percieve….kind of like how we see things through our own filters…understanding that makes us better at listening and loving others? Am I understanding correctly?
Thanks Mom! I am glad that you like my apartment!!! The “edge” is the place to be….
